Overview Drug Testing Works Program Development

Program Design

Preparation is key to any successful drug-testing program. Long before testing begins, it is important to assess the level, type and frequency of use by collecting baseline data for student drug use, to research legal issues pertaining to school-based drug testing, and to build consensus in your community for a testing program. It is also important to develop a policy that fits the particular needs of your school and to provide a mechanism to assure that young people who test positive receive the necessary level of counseling or treatment.
